Send flowers to Bangkok กรุงเทพฯ
Bangkok is a city of 50 districts, long numbered sois and towers with their own reception desks. Here is how to write the address so the flowers reach the right door.
Choose a bouquet for Bangkok
Why a Bangkok address needs more care than most
Bangkok is divided into 50 districts, called เขต (khet), and these hold 180 sub-districts, called แขวง (khwaeng). Elsewhere in Thailand the equivalent words are อำเภอ (amphoe) and ตำบล (tambon). If you copy an upcountry address format into a Bangkok order, the form will often look wrong to you, but it is the Bangkok words that matter here.
The postcode has five digits and starts with 10. That prefix tells a courier the province before anything else is read. Put it last, after the district, just as the local post does.
A full address runs from small to large: unit and floor, building name, house number, soi, road, khwaeng, khet, then Bangkok 10xxx. When you ask your recipient for the address, ask for a screenshot of the map pin as well as the text. A pin removes most of the guesswork, and it costs your friend ten seconds.
Reading a soi: the Sukhumvit example
A ซอย (soi) is a side street, and in Bangkok some sois are as long as small roads. The best known corridor is Sukhumvit Road. Its sois are numbered from west to east, with odd numbers branching off to the north-east and even numbers to the south-west. So Sukhumvit Soi 23 and Soi 24 face each other across the road, roughly.
Skytrain stations give you rough anchors along the same road: Nana near Soi 3, Asok near Soi 21, Phrom Phong near Soi 39 and Thong Lo near Soi 55. If a recipient says they live on Soi 39, you already know the stretch of road and which station is closest.
Watch out for two things. Some sois fork into sub-sois, written like Soi 26/1. And a soi name and a soi number can both exist for the same street, so copy exactly what is printed on the recipient's own paperwork.
Towers, reception desks and the last hundred metres
Most orders to central Bangkok end up in a condominium or a hotel. In both, the person who receives the arrangement is usually a receptionist or a security guard, not the recipient. Put the unit number, floor, tower name (if there are several) and the recipient's name in the Latin script, and ideally ask the recipient to tell the front desk to expect a delivery.
The same advice, with more examples, is in our guide on flowers to hotels and condos in Thailand. If the recipient lives behind a gate with a guardhouse, a phone number on the order is more useful than a longer description.
Bangkok traffic is the reason local planning matters. The city is known for chronic congestion despite its expressways, and Sukhumvit, Sathorn and Silom see it most. The rail network helps people, but bouquets still go by road. Leave your recipient's schedule in mind: a delivery to an office tower on a working day reaches a different kind of lobby than one to a house on a quiet soi.
Districts you will meet most often
- Sukhumvit corridor: passes through Khlong Toei, Pathum Wan, Watthana, Phra Khanong and Bang Na. Hotels, condos and offices share the same soi.
- Silom and Sathon: the financial streets, with high-rise offices and serviced apartments.
- Pathum Wan: the shopping district around Siam and Ratchaprasong.
- Rattanakosin Island: the old royal centre of Phra Nakhon district, home of the Grand Palace.
- Riverside and Thonburi: the west bank of the Chao Phraya River, where some addresses are easier to reach by road than by boat.
Pak Khlong Talat sits in Phra Nakhon district on Chak Phet Road, near Memorial Bridge. It is the city's main flower market, open around the clock, and busiest before dawn when trucks and boats arrive. Knowing that helps you picture where Bangkok's flowers come from, but you do not need to go there to send a bouquet.
Dates that change the city
Songkran falls on 13 to 15 April. In Bangkok, large celebrations close streets around Silom Road and Khao San Road, and water is thrown at anyone passing. A bouquet in the open needs to be kept out of that. If the recipient lives near those streets, say so in your note.
Loy Krathong is the evening of the full moon of the twelfth lunar month. In 2026 it is on 24 November. People float small decorated krathongs on waterways, so the city's riverbanks and canal parks are crowded that night.
For wording on the card, see what to write on the card. If you are choosing between cities, Pattaya works on a very different map, with a beach road in place of sois.
Common questions
Do I write the district as khet or amphoe for Bangkok?
Use เขต (khet) for the district and แขวง (khwaeng) for the sub-district. The amphoe and tambon words are used in the rest of the country.
What postcode format does Bangkok use?
Five digits starting with 10. Place it after the district and the word Bangkok.
How do I know which side of Sukhumvit a soi is on?
Odd soi numbers branch off to the north-east and even numbers to the south-west. Soi numbers rise from west to east.
Can the flowers go to a condo reception?
That is common, but arrange it with the recipient first. See our hotel and condo guide.
